Aversa school electricity theft discovered after ten years

Two individuals in Aversa, Italy, have been reported to authorities following the discovery of a decade-long electricity theft at the Mattei Institute. The investigation, conducted by the Caserta Provincial Police in collaboration with Enel technicians, began during inspections regarding the legal occupation of service housing located near the school.

Officers discovered that the two occupants were living in a service residence without authorization. During a technical inspection, officials found a rudimentary system of cables connected directly to the school’s meter, allowing the occupants to use electricity for lighting, heating, and appliances at the school's expense.

The illegal connection had reportedly been active for at least ten years. Enel technicians dismantled the unauthorized system, removed the tampered meter, and secured the electrical installation. The two men face charges for aggravated theft of electricity.
