Avezzano launches 29th Settimana Marsicana cultural festival

The 29th edition of the Settimana Marsicana began in Avezzano with a 24‑hour early start, backed by the municipal administration. The opening ceremony at Piazza Risorgimento showcased works by 43 artists of the Marsarte group, led by president Maurizio Lucci, with the exhibition “I painted peace” curated by artistic director Francesco Subrani to reflect current global conflicts and environmental challenges. Photographic displays by the Circolo Fotografico Marsicano and the Amici dell’Immagine association added visual narratives of the city and its territory.

Additional activities include a civic road‑safety program for children aged 5‑10 organized by the local police, and a daily yoga and meditation session led by Marcella Cicanecchia in Parco Torlonia. The festival runs until Sunday, 2 August, offering a mix of art, culture, sport and community events throughout the city centre.
