Avi Gil accuses Netanyahu's office of manipulating October 7 records

Avi Gil, the former military secretary to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, has accused the Prime Minister's Office of attempting to manipulate official records related to the October 7, 2023, attacks.

Gil alleges that in January 2024, a stenographer was instructed by the Chief of Staff to alter the recorded time of a critical four-minute phone call from 06:40 to 06:29. According to Gil, the stenographer refused the order, noting that the computer system clearly documented the call occurring between 06:40 and 06:44. Gil claims he documented this incident in a handwritten note and forwarded it to the Attorney General, urging future investigative commissions to rely on original recordings rather than transcripts.

Additionally, Gil stated that security services had been warning of a weakening of Israel's deterrence and increasing regional tensions for weeks prior to the Hamas attacks. Netanyahu and the Likud party have denied these allegations, characterizing them as politically motivated.
