Avianca passenger requires medical aid after fainting mid-flight

A passenger on a domestic Avianca flight in Colombia suffered a medical emergency after fainting during the journey. An internal medicine doctor on board, Yeimer Ortiz, responded to the crew's call for medical assistance.

Upon examining the passenger, Dr. Ortiz found she was unconscious and cold, though she maintained a pulse. Her vital signs indicated low blood pressure (80/50) and low glucose levels (near 50). A passenger sitting next to her informed the doctor that the woman had recently injected a substance into her abdomen.

Following this information, a search of the woman's belongings revealed a syringe containing peptides. According to her companion, the substance had been purchased online from another individual for the purpose of weight loss. The passenger was provided with something sweet to consume during the flight, and the aircraft landed without further incident.
