Aviation developments in the Philippines involve new NAIA standards and IndiGo expansion

New NAIA Infra Corp. (NNIC) and Philippine Airlines (PAL) have signed an Airport Use Agreement (AUA) to establish performance standards at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA). The agreement introduces key performance indicators and service standards for PAL’s operations, aiming to improve efficiency, coordination, and accountability at the country’s main gateway. NNIC intends to use this agreement as a template for other airlines and service providers at the airport.

Separately, India’s largest airline, IndiGo, is seeking regulatory approval from the Philippine Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB) to begin scheduled services in the country. Its parent company, InterGlobe Aviation Ltd., has filed a petition for a foreign air carrier’s permit. The move follows increased travel between India and the Philippines, supported by recent visa-free and e-tourist visa arrangements, which contributed to a 43 percent rise in Indian tourists to the Philippines in the first half of the year.
