Aviation enthusiasts gather at LAX for annual Cranky Dorkfest

Aviation enthusiasts, photographers, and industry insiders gathered near Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) for the annual Cranky Dorkfest. The informal meetup, which began in 2011, has grown significantly in scale, with organizers noting that the event is on track for a record year despite potential no-shows.

Participants utilized the proximity of a local In-N-Out Burger to watch commercial jets overhead while eating. The gathering typically takes place in September on the second or third weekend of the month, often coinciding with NYC Aviation’s SpotLAX to create an extended weekend for aviation hobbyists.
