Aviation incidents: Delta flight lands in Porto and Flydubai pilot struggle in Saudi Arabia
Two separate aviation incidents involving emergency landings have been reported.
A Delta Air Lines flight traveling from Barcelona to Boston was forced to make an emergency landing in Porto, Portugal, due to smoke in the cabin. While eight passengers received medical treatment on the runway at Francisco Sá Carneira Airport, three individuals were transported to a hospital for further care. The exact cause of the smoke remains unclear.
In a separate event, a Flydubai flight traveling from Dubai to Tel Aviv made an emergency landing in Tabuk, Saudi Arabia, following a struggle on board. Witnesses reported that one pilot attempted to intentionally crash the aircraft, but was prevented by the second pilot and a group of passengers. The aircraft had transmitted an international emergency signal and a code indicating a hijacking or unlawful interference. Israeli officials, including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, stated the situation is under control after Israeli fighter jets were dispatched to monitor the aircraft.
