Aviation incidents reported for Austrian Airlines and Lufthansa
Two separate aviation incidents involving European carriers have been reported. An Austrian Airlines Airbus A320neo experienced a tail strike while landing at London Heathrow Airport on flight OS333 from Vienna. The aircraft, registration OE-LZN, sustained damage to its rear section, necessitating a detailed structural inspection. The return flight to Vienna was canceled, and technicians from Austrian Airlines and Swiss are working on repairs in coordination with Airbus.
In a separate event, a Lufthansa Airbus A321 flight bound for Lisbon was forced to make an emergency landing in Lyon, France, after a passenger's portable battery caught fire near a seat. The crew declared an emergency to secure priority landing, ensuring the safety of the 198 passengers and six crew members. Lufthansa has reiterated strict rules regarding lithium-ion batteries, prohibiting their use for charging devices or charging themselves during flights, and banning them from checked luggage.
