Aviation industry updates include airline liveries and airport renaming

Several aviation developments have been reported involving various airlines and commemorative events. JSX is operating a special Embraer ERJ 145LR aircraft with a patriotic livery named ‘Freedom 250’ to mark the 250th anniversary of the United States.

In Memphis, the Memphis-Shelby County Airport Authority renamed the Memphis International Airport to honor the late FedEx founder, Frederick W. Smith. This coincided with the inaugural FedEx FWS Day on August 11, 2026.

Hawaiian Airlines has entered a partnership with Disney to celebrate the live-action release of ‘Moana,’ featuring three special aircraft liveries themed around Polynesian exploration and celestial navigation. Additionally, an Airbus A321-251NX is scheduled to enter service for Cathay Pacific under a Hong Kong registration.
