Aviation infrastructure projects underway in Panama and Costa Rica

Tocumen International Airport in Panama is undergoing a $56.9 million runway rehabilitation project. The work on runway 03 left is 75% complete, with remaining tasks including visual lighting aids, pavement grooving, and horizontal signaling. Work on runway 03 right has commenced, focusing on rigid pavement recovery. To prevent operational disruptions, complex tasks are being performed at night. The project, which includes taxiways, has a two-year execution period followed by two years of maintenance and has generated over 700 direct and indirect jobs.

In Costa Rica, the Quepos Aerodrome has begun a modernization process with a total planned investment of approximately ₡6.1 billion. The first stage, costing roughly ₡2.1 billion, involves constructing a 9,450-square-meter aircraft parking platform capable of holding nine aircraft and one helicopter, alongside improvements to access roads and drainage systems. A second stage is projected to cost an additional ₡4 billion and will focus on the construction of a new passenger terminal.
