Aviation regulations updated in Mozambique and Brazil

Mozambique has approved new regulations for private air operators to enhance safety and efficiency. The new rules introduce digital licenses featuring anti-fraud mechanisms such as QR codes, watermarks, and encrypted digital signatures. Operators are now required to submit monthly reports regarding passengers, routes, and flight hours to the regulatory authority. A 90-day transition period is in effect, lasting until the end of October.

In Brazil, the Ministry of Ports and Airports is implementing new guidelines for civil drone operations following the publication of the Brazilian Civil Aviation Regulation (RBAC) No. 100. The new framework categorizes drone flights into three levels based on risk: open, specific, and certified. The open category covers low-risk operations with drones up to 25 kg, while the certified category is reserved for high-risk activities, such as transporting dangerous goods. Drones weighing less than 250 grams operating within visual line of sight are exempt from certain RBAC 100 requirements.
