Aviation security incident in Colombia and new airport connection project in Peru
In Colombia, flight operations at José María Córdova International Airport were temporarily suspended on the night of Saturday, October 10, due to the presence of a drone near the terminal. The Civil Aeronautics authority reported that security protocols were activated at 10:28 p.m. to evaluate the situation. Operations resumed at 10:45 p.m. after safety verifications were completed. The incident caused delays and some flights to be diverted to other terminals, such as El Dorado in Bogotá, though an official count of affected flights has not been released. Authorities are investigating the origin of the drone.
In Peru, Lima Expresa announced a project to connect the Línea Amarilla expressway to Jorge Chávez International Airport via an elevated viaduct over Faucett Avenue. The project, estimated to cost between US$150 million and US$180 million, has been accepted by the Ministry of Transport and Communications. The goal is to reduce travel times and alleviate congestion near the airport. Engineering is expected to begin in January 2027, with a projected completion date in the third quarter of 2028.
