Avijit Das leads Hindu Suraksha Samiti campaign in West Bengal

Avijit Chandra Das, chairperson of the Hindu Suraksha Samiti (HSS), has led a campaign in West Bengal advocating for exclusive Hindu rights in the region. During a ‘Direct Action Day’ organized by the HSS in Jadavpur, Kolkata, on August 16, Das delivered a speech calling for a ‘Jihad-mukt’ Bengal.

Das’s rhetoric included claims that only Hindus should be entitled to live, work, and conduct business in the area. He used communal messaging to target the Muslim community, stating that they would not be allowed to enjoy rights in the country. His ideology suggests that because the partition of Bengal was based on religion, Hindus hold an exclusive claim to the land.

During the event, Das also attempted to incite the crowd to destroy a statue of Vladimir Lenin, accusing the Russian revolutionary of being responsible for the Partition.
