Avilés hosts XVI Semana Impulso TIC on ethical, inclusive computing

The XVI Semana Impulso TIC will take place in Avilés from 9 to 13 November, bringing together professionals, companies, public administrations, universities and students to discuss technology that serves people. Organized by the professional colleges CITIPA and COIIPA with the support of the city council, the event’s motto is “Informática con propósito: tecnología para todos”.

Key speakers include municipal councillor Manuel Campa, who highlighted the need to teach children about digital risks and responsible device use, CITIPA dean David Pérez Pancho, who stressed that technology should improve lives, and COIIPA dean José García Fanjul, who warned that not every technological possibility should be pursued. The programme features conferences, round‑tables and outreach activities aimed at fostering inclusive, purpose‑driven computing.
