Avilés man jailed for child corruption and links to ‘The Com’ network
Spanish National Police have arrested an individual in Avilés, Asturias, on suspicion of child corruption and membership in a criminal group linked to the nihilistic virtual community known as ‘The Com’. Following judicial proceedings, the suspect has been placed in provisional prison.
The investigation, which began in March, focuses on decentralized digital networks characterized by violent nihilistic extremism. These groups are allegedly involved in child exploitation, cyberbullying, extortion, incitement to self-harm, and the promotion of extreme violence.
Authorities revealed that the suspect had financial ties to a former U.S. Navy sailor accused of serious crimes, including child sexual abuse material possession, child torture, and sextortion. This individual was reportedly part of ‘Greggy’s Cult’, a precursor to ‘Grupo 764’, which is considered a terrorist organization in some jurisdictions. During a search of the suspect's home, police seized mobile devices and computer equipment that are currently undergoing analysis to identify victims and other participants.
