Avión, Spain celebrates 20th anniversary of its Mexican Fiesta

The town of Avión in Galicia marked the 20th edition of its annual Mexican Fiesta, a summer event that brings together hundreds of locals, returning emigrants and visitors from across the region.

The celebration featured Mexican food stalls from restaurants in Vigo, Ponte Caldelas, O Carballiño, Cerdedo‑Cotobade and Santiago de Compostela, serving tacos, tamales, mole and other dishes. Mayor Antonio Montero highlighted the event’s tourist impact, saying buses arrived from Vigo, Cambados, Moaña and Pontevedra. The programme also included a visit by honorary Mexican consul Alfonso Pereira and other regional officials.
