Avis car rental company admits error after billing customer for 29,000 kilometers

Yuehao Huang, a resident of Toronto, was incorrectly billed approximately 5,900 Canadian dollars by Avis for excessive mileage. The rental company claimed that during a seven-day trip in September, Huang had driven 28,933 kilometers.

Huang contested the charge, noting that his actual road trip through Montreal, Mont-Tremblant, Ottawa, and Quebec City totaled a maximum of 1,400 kilometers. He pointed out that the billed distance would have required driving at 180 km/h continuously for 24 hours a day without stopping for fuel or sleep. Avis has since acknowledged the error.
