AVIS Fragagnano rejects political controversy over municipal collaboration

AVIS Fragagnano and AVIS Taranto have issued a joint statement responding to a formal inquiry by the ‘Nuovi Orizzonti’ council group regarding a collaboration protocol with the Fragagnano municipality. The inquiry concerns the programming of the ‘Non solo…Settembre Fragagnanese 2026’ event series.

Association leaders Lorenzo Fortunato Colucci and Vincenzo Pentassuglia expressed regret and bitterness over the political scrutiny, stating that the association’s work should not be dragged into political disputes. They emphasized that the partnership with the local administration is institutional, non-profit, and consistent with the organization’s statutes.

AVIS clarified that its decade-long presence in the territory focuses on blood donation promotion and social and cultural initiatives. They maintained that the collaboration is intended solely to raise awareness for blood donation and is similar to existing institutional partnerships in neighboring municipalities.
