Aviva Investors launches tokenized money‑market fund on XRP Ledger

Aviva Investors, the asset‑management arm of UK insurer Aviva PLC, has introduced a tokenized share class of its US Dollar Liquidity Fund on the XRP Ledger. The Ireland‑domiciled UCITS money‑market fund retains its traditional structure, while an on‑chain “digital twin” on the public blockchain records share ownership as tokens. The launch, announced on July 29, follows a strategic partnership with Ripple that was first disclosed earlier in the year.

The new share class received approval from the Central Bank of Ireland, allowing it to operate within the fund’s existing regulated framework. Underlying assets continue to be held by BNY Mellon, while regulated digital‑asset custodian Komainu provides the custodial layer and technology firm Licuido supplies the tokenisation engine. Eligible investors can access the fund through approved digital wallets, receiving the same risk profile, liquidity terms and regulatory protections as the conventional share class. Access is limited to qualified investors and subject to local securities rules.

The tokenised fund represents one of the largest deployments of a regulated institutional fund on a public blockchain, signaling growing regulator comfort with blockchain‑based structures in traditional finance.
