AVM launches FRITZ!Box 5630 fiber router with Wi‑Fi 7

AVM introduced the FRITZ!Box 5630, a compact fiber‑ready router that combines an integrated GPON/AON modem with Wi‑Fi 7. It supports up to 2.5 Gbit/s on GPON and 1 Gbit/s on AON, offers a 2.5‑GbE WAN/LAN port that can also serve as a fast LAN link, and includes three Gigabit‑LAN ports. Wi‑Fi 7 delivers up to 2.88 Gbit/s on the 5 GHz band and 688 Mbit/s on 2.4 GHz, supports mesh networking, DECT phone base, and can be set up via the MyFRITZ! app or a web browser. The router is priced at €289 and is available immediately.

Separately, AVM released FRITZ!OS 8.25 for the FRITZ!Box 6850 5G v2. The update adds voice‑over‑LTE (VoLTE) and voice‑over‑5G (VoNR) using the SIM‑card’s mobile number, along with standard call features such as call‑waiting and hold. It also improves modem stability, raises maximum mobile data rates to 1.3 Gbit/s, and fixes issues with SMS reception, IPv6 reconnection, SIM detection, and parental‑control filters.
