AVMU defends regulatory independence amid political criticism
The Agency for Audio and Audiovisual Media Services (AVMU) has responded to allegations from the Social Democratic Union of Macedonia, asserting that its decisions are made strictly according to legal procedures and not influenced by political interests.
The dispute concerns requests submitted on June 29 by Nasha TV DOOEL Skopje and the RFM Radio Broadcasting Company DOOEL Skopje to change their ownership structures. To ensure a lawful and objective decision, the Agency's Council has extended the decision-making period by an additional 30 days to verify documentation and gather necessary information from relevant institutions.
AVMU emphasized that it will continue to perform its duties professionally, independently, and transparently to maintain a free and pluralistic media space, urging political entities to refrain from politicizing the work of the independent regulator.
