Šavnik hosts inaugural Mural Lab contemporary art festival

The first edition of Mural Lab Šavnik 2026 has commenced in Šavnik, Montenegro. This six-day contemporary art festival aims to transform the town into an open-air studio under the slogan ‘WALLS. PEOPLE. CITY.’

During the festival, six new murals will be created on city facades, allowing the public to observe the artistic process. The event features international artists NeSpoon from Poland and Zed1 (Marco Burresi) from Italy, alongside local and regional artists including Jana Danilović, Stevan Šoln – Wunste, Kolektiv Lastavica, and Marija Šoln – Marg. The artworks are designed to respect the local architecture, nature, and heritage, with one mural dedicated to Borislav Pekić.

The program also includes a Mural Masterclass for students mentored by Professor Marija Džoganović, daily artist talks, a children's program, a digital exhibition by architecture students, and a panel discussion regarding the impact of public art on small towns.
