Daily Avocado Intake Lowers Atherogenic LDL Particles, Study Shows

A 2026 study from Penn State University found that eating one avocado each day for six months reduced the concentration of atherogenic LDL particles in adults with abdominal obesity, corresponding to an estimated 4% reduction in heart‑disease risk.

Research presented by Stanford University investigators indicated that individuals on low‑carbohydrate diets who have a genetic predisposition to higher LDL cholesterol may experience marked LDL increases, especially if they consume more saturated fat. The findings suggest that lipid panels should be checked before and during low‑carb or keto diets, particularly for those with unfavorable genetics or lower body‑mass index.
