Avola Book Festival draws 7,000 visitors, hits record attendance
The second edition of the Avola Book Festival, organized by Mondadori Bookstore Inserra and supported by the city of Avola, attracted about 7,000 attendees over four days (July 29 – August 1). The event was run by a team of roughly 100 volunteers, collaborators and partners and generated more than 500,000 views of its social‑media content.
The program featured novels, investigative journalism, memoirs and testimonies, with participation from writers, journalists, scholars and other cultural figures. Artistic director Andrea Cassisi said the numbers show that “a city can become an open space for dialogue and cultural growth through books.” Organizers Giuseppe Inserra and Salvatore Fazzino highlighted the festival’s role in revitalising public squares as contemporary agoras where different generations meet.
The festival is being hailed as one of the most dynamic cultural experiences of the Sicilian summer, reinforcing Avola’s reputation as a hub for literary events.
