Avolites D7-215 powers lighting for Pro Cheer League debut
UpLight Technologies utilized the Avolites D7-215 to manage the lighting design for the debut season of the Pro Cheer League. Production and lighting designer David Surbrook and programmer André Huff controlled a rig consisting of 164 fixtures across 32 universes.
The production, created by Varsity Spirit, toured five US cities and was broadcast on ION Television, reaching over five million individual viewers. The lighting setup combined automated moving lights and LED fixtures with large-scale LED video walls to frame the screens and complement the production's motion graphics.
A key component of the design included 32 ROBE BMFL Wash fixtures, which were used to illuminate the competition field and reduce shadows during complex aerial acrobatics. Surbrook noted that the Avolites system provided the speed and intuitive workflow necessary to meet tight production schedules, which sometimes required setting up, recording, and striking an entire production within a single day.
