Avolon places massive 250-aircraft order with Airbus and Boeing

Dublin-based aircraft lessor Avolon has announced a major expansion of its order book with firm orders for 250 new aircraft from manufacturers Airbus and Boeing. The deal includes 140 Boeing 737 MAX jets and 110 Airbus aircraft, consisting of 75 A320neo family models and 35 A330-900 widebodies. Additionally, the agreement includes options for another 100 Airbus jets.

This transaction represents the largest order in Avolon’s history with either manufacturer. Following these contracts, Avolon’s total number of firm aircraft orders will rise to 749. The company aims to use these new-generation, fuel-efficient aircraft to support the fleet growth and replacement needs of its airline customers well into the next decade.

The orders are subject to approval by shareholders of Bohai Leasing, which owns 70% of Avolon, with a decision expected by the end of October 2026. Avolon currently manages a fleet of 1,092 aircraft leased to 138 airlines across 62 countries.
