Avram Iancu International Airport reaches 3 million passengers

Avram Iancu International Airport in Cluj-Napoca recorded its 3 millionth passenger of 2026 on October 19, marking the fourth consecutive year the airport has surpassed this milestone. This achievement was reached 18 days earlier than in 2025, when the threshold was met on November 6.

The milestone passenger arrived via HiSky flight H4278 from Bucharest Otopeni. A ceremony was held to mark the occasion, attended by Cluj County Council President Alin Tișe, Vice President István Vákár, and other local councilors.

Airport officials and local administration attribute this growth to long-term infrastructure investments and expanded operational capacity. Projections suggest that total passenger traffic for the end of 2026 could exceed 3.5 million, further consolidating the airport's position as the most significant regional hub in Romania outside of Bucharest.
