Avs leaders propose new coalition program to oppose Meloni government

Nicola Fratoianni and Angelo Bonelli, leaders of Alleanza Verdi e Sinistra (Avs), have announced readiness to participate in building a progressive coalition to offer an alternative to Giorgia Meloni’s government.

On Sunday, the party will present the results of a participatory process involving approximately 10,000 people, primarily youth, through the Decidiamo.com platform. These contributions are intended to form the backbone of the Avs electoral program and serve as a contribution to a broader center-left coalition.

Fratoianni emphasized that the coalition should be defined by its program and convergence rather than specific individuals, stating that anyone seeking to oppose the current government is welcome at the table. Key policy areas for discussion include social and environmental justice, peace, and the implementation of a wealth tax (patrimoniale) to fund unified proposals.
