AVT launches AutoEdit AI for automated print defect classification

AVT has officially launched AutoEdit AI, an artificial intelligence-driven decision engine designed to automate the classification of print defects. The module is now available for the broader label market through integration with AVT Helios 100% print inspection systems.

In traditional label production, while inspection systems can detect errors at high speeds, the subsequent decision-making process—determining whether a defect renders a product unsellable—often requires manual review by operators. This manual verification of the virtual roll has become a significant bottleneck due to the rise in small batches, product variants, and personalized print jobs.

AutoEdit AI functions after the Helios inspection and before automatic waste removal via the AVT Workflow Link. The system categorizes every detected error into one of three groups: sellable, unsellable, or requiring final review. If the AI cannot make a certain determination, the case is flagged for an operator to inspect. This integration aims to reduce manual workload, increase throughput, and ensure consistent decision-making across different shifts and operators.
