AvtoVAZ to produce Lada Azimut SUV starting in 2026

AvtoVAZ is preparing to launch the Lada Azimut, a new compact SUV intended to succeed the Lada Niva. This marks the brand's first new SUV in nearly 30 years. The vehicle is built on the Vesta platform but features a higher body for improved practicality and includes 996 new or upgraded components, such as new body panels, lighting, and rear suspension.

Mass production is planned to begin in the third quarter of 2026, with showroom arrivals expected by the end of that year. The manufacturer aims for an annual production volume of approximately 70,000 units.

A significant technological upgrade for the brand includes the introduction of fully electric six-way adjustable front seats with lumbar support, supplied by the Tolyatti-based AFT-Seats. Other modern features expected in the Azimut include a panoramic roof, dual-zone climate control, a fully digital instrument cluster, wireless smartphone charging, and a 360-degree camera system.
