Awa Taguchi, Japanese gravure idol, dies at age 28

Japanese gravure idol and bartender Awa Taguchi has passed away at the age of 28. Her death was reported by the Shinjuku Kabukicho bar ‘Tokyo Desert’, where she worked, stating that her relatives notified them of her passing on September 9.

Taguchi gained internet fame in 2022 after a photo of her dining at a family restaurant went viral. She was also known for her activities as a haiku poet under the pen name ‘Chitsujirotin’ and worked as a bartender in Shinjuku.

While the official cause of death has not been formally released by her workplace, fellow idol Misa Aio briefly posted on social media that the death was due to a ‘traffic accident’ before later deleting the post. Nakagawa Paradise, president of the talent agency Taguchi was previously affiliated with, also expressed grief over the sudden loss.
