Awarapan 2 surpasses 161 crore worldwide in first week

Emraan Hashmi’s film ‘Awarapan 2’ has achieved significant commercial success, surpassing 161.67 crore in worldwide collections within its first week. The sequel, directed by Nitin Kakkar, has seen strong domestic performance with a net collection of approximately 113.50 crore in India and an overseas gross of over 26 crore.

Despite the financial success, the film has faced criticism on social media regarding its writing and direction. Some fans have argued that the film’s performance relies heavily on nostalgia, the original title, and the film's music rather than the quality of the screenplay. Additionally, writer Bilal Siddiqui noted that the absence of kissing scenes—a departure from Hashmi’s earlier career—was a conscious creative decision to respect the emotional journey of the character, Shivam.

In contrast, the film ‘Batwara 1947’, starring Sunny Deol, has struggled at the box office, earning significantly less than its competitor. Meanwhile, the original 2007 film ‘Awarapan’ was reportedly leaked online on YouTube, though the unauthorized upload was removed after a fan alerted the actor.
