Indian box office: Yash’s Toxic sees decline after massive opening
The Indian film industry is seeing diverse box office performances across major releases. Yash’s high-budget gangster drama ‘Toxic’, directed by Geethu Mohandas, saw a massive opening day of over 100 crore rupees but experienced a significant decline in earnings on subsequent days. Despite the drop, the film has amassed a worldwide gross of approximately 221 crore rupees within its first three days, with the Hindi version performing particularly strongly.
In contrast, Emraan Hashmi’s ‘Awarapan 2’ has shown resilience. After a slowdown in its second week, the film saw a 100% jump in collections on its 15th day due to the Raksha Bandhan holiday, bringing its worldwide gross to over 205 crore rupees. The film is currently approaching the 150 crore net mark in India.
Additionally, the low-budget film ‘Hanuman Ansh’ has emerged as a surprise success. Despite having minimal promotion and a small budget, the film saw a massive surge in its third week, reaching a total collection of nearly 12 crore rupees. This success is being noted as a potential milestone for content-driven, low-budget cinema.
