Awer Mabil signs three‑year deal with Melbourne City

Australian international winger Awer Mabil has returned home after more than a decade in Europe, joining A‑League side Melbourne City on a three‑year contract. The 30‑year‑old arrives from Spanish Segunda División club CD Castellón, bringing experience from stints in Denmark, Switzerland, the Czech Republic, Turkey and Spain, as well as appearances at the 2022 and 2026 FIFA World Cups.

Melbourne City’s Director of Football Michael Petrillo called the signing a "significant moment" for the club, highlighting Mabil’s quality on and off the pitch. Mabil expressed excitement about reuniting with former Socceroos teammates Mathew Leckie and Aziz Behich and working under coach Aurelio Vidmar, saying he looks forward to helping the club achieve further success.
