Awesome Kong discusses WWE release and pregnancy storylines

Former WWE Superstar Awesome Kong, also known as Kharma, has shared details regarding her departure from the company in 2012 and her experiences with pregnancy storylines.

Speaking on the ‘No-Contest Wrestling’ podcast, Kong stated she was released approximately two weeks after rejecting a return plan proposed by WWE officials following her maternity leave. She noted that the company requested she lose weight before returning, but she disagreed with their specific methods and preferred to work with trainer Sara Del Rey to prepare. Kong expressed frustration with officials who she felt were on ‘power trips’ at the time.

Kong also reflected on her pregnancy announcement on WWE television. After discovering she was pregnant during a tour in Mexico, she worked with the company to navigate an on-screen angle. While she agreed to the storyline, she requested changes to the language used to ensure it was respectful toward her child. She noted that she felt a sense of responsibility toward Triple H, who had been heavily invested in her career at the time.
