AWOL Vision launches Aetherion 4K laser projectors in Japan

AWOL Vision, a US-based imaging equipment manufacturer, has launched pre-orders for its Aetherion series of 4K ultra-short throw RGB triple laser projectors on the Japanese crowdfunding platform Makuake.

The lineup includes two models: the Aetherion Max, which offers 3,300 ISO lumens and a metal chassis, and the Aetherion Pro, which provides 2,600 ISO lumens and a plastic chassis. Both models utilize DLP technology with a 0.47-inch DMD chip and can project screens up to 200 inches. Due to their ultra-short throw design, a 100-inch image can be achieved from a distance of just 15.8 cm from the wall.

Key technical features include PixelLock technology for image alignment, Anti-RBE technology to reduce rainbow noise by up to 99.99%, and the EBL algorithm to enhance black levels. The projectors are designed for both home cinema and gaming, supporting Variable Refresh Rate (VRR), Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM), and Dolby Vision Gaming. They run on Google TV and support Wi-Fi 7.

In Japan, the company is partnering with the audio-visual specialist Avance for distribution and in-store demonstrations. Early bird pricing on Makuake offers discounts of up to 48% off the planned retail prices.
