AWS Agent Registry reaches general availability for AI governance
Amazon Web Services (AWS) has announced the general availability of AWS Agent Registry, a service designed for the centralized management, discovery, and governance of AI agents, tools, and skills within an organization.
The registry functions through two distinct layers: a Governance Plane, which manages records and administrative policies, and a Discovery Plane, which presents only approved resources to users. It supports several record types, including Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers, Agent records, Skill records, and Custom JSON records. Users can search the catalog using both semantic and keyword matching.
As part of this release, AWS has also integrated the registry with Amazon Quick, allowing business users to discover and enable custom connectors and agents directly within their existing workspace. The service is available across multiple AWS regions, including US East (N. Virginia), US West (Oregon), Asia Pacific (Sydney and Tokyo), and Europe (Frankfurt and Ireland).
