AWS and Red Hat announce updates to identity and access management tools
Amazon Web Services (AWS) has introduced optimistic locking for users and groups within the IAM Identity Center identity store. This update prevents administrative or automated workflows from silently overwriting changes when multiple actors modify the same user or group simultaneously. Each user and group is assigned a Revision value that changes upon attribute modification. Update or delete requests will now only succeed if the provided Revision matches the current one, returning a ConflictException otherwise.
Red Hat has expanded high-availability (HA) multi-site support for the Red Hat build of Keycloak, starting with version 26.4. This update allows for HA deployments across on-premises private data centers and non-AWS cloud providers, including Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform, and IBM Cloud. By utilizing Red Hat OpenShift single-cluster deployments spanning multiple availability zones with a synchronous database, the update aims to ensure authentication continuity even during site failures.
