AWS integrates Continuum security into OpenAI and Anthropic AI tools

Amazon Web Services (AWS) has announced the integration of its AWS Continuum platform into the coding environments of competitors OpenAI Codex and Anthropic Claude Code, as well as its own Kiro IDE. This move aims to embed security controls—including code analysis, threat modeling, vulnerability assessment, and penetration testing—directly into the AI-assisted programming workflow.

The initiative responds to a growing cybersecurity crisis driven by frontier AI models. Specifically, the emergence of models like Anthropic’s Claude Mythos Preview has demonstrated the ability to identify thousands of previously unknown zero-day vulnerabilities. This capability has significantly increased the backlog of unpatched flaws, as the time between vulnerability discovery and weaponized exploits continues to shrink.

By integrating Continuum at the point of code generation, AWS intends to position itself as a central security control plane for enterprise software development. Additionally, AWS expanded its Security Hub Extended marketplace to include a new category for supply chain protection, partnering with firms such as Chainguard and Socket.
