AWS launches $500 million Student Rewards program for cloud and AI training

Amazon Web Services (AWS) has launched ‘Student Rewards’, a new initiative designed to enhance cloud and AI competencies among university students globally. The company is investing over $500 million in the value of educational resources, cloud credits, and certification support through the program.

Eligible students—those aged 18 and older enrolled in two-to-four-year higher education institutions—can participate by verifying their enrollment via SheerID. Upon completing their AWS Builder Center profile, students immediately receive a 12-month premium subscription to AWS Skill Builder, which includes access to over 900 courses, hands-on labs, and certification preparation materials.

Additional benefits are unlocked through community engagement within the AWS Builder Center. By earning badges through activities such as publishing articles or participating in discussions, students can receive tiered rewards. These include AWS service credits and vouchers for foundational certifications, such as the AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner or AWS Certified AI Practitioner. A single student can receive benefits totaling up to $579 in value.
