AWS updates Dynamic Image Transformation for Amazon CloudFront
Amazon Web Services (AWS) has announced four new features for Dynamic Image Transformation (DIT) for Amazon CloudFront. These updates aim to enhance how images are processed and delivered to various devices.
The new features include enhanced smart cropping, which utilizes custom label detection to preserve specific elements like text, logos, and products within cropped images. This capability integrates with Amazon Rekognition to allow for complex detection requests. Additionally, the update introduces advanced automatic image optimization, using multi-tier device detection to ensure appropriately sized images are delivered across all platforms, including smartphones, tablets, and smart TVs.
AWS also introduced an interactive image transformation playground, allowing users to test transformations and view metrics such as file size, compression ratios, and processing time. Finally, the update achieves full feature parity between the solution’s ECS and Lambda architectures. DIT is available in all commercial regions, along with opt-in regions in Hong Kong, Bahrain, Cape Town, and Milan.
