12th International Music Festival of Marvão Draws Thousands in Portugal

The 12th edition of the Festival Internacional de Música de Marvão was held on 28 – 29 July 2026 in the historic town of Marvão, Portugal. The programme featured a free children's concert “RE. tocar” at the Centro Cultural, a piano recital by Dmitrii Kalashnikov, a chamber music concert by the Arete Quartet, and a percussion quartet of the Portuguese Symphonic Band. On the evening of 29 July, Banda Sinfónica Portuguesa performed at the Pátio do Castelo under the direction of maestro David Fiuza, while cellist Igor Sacharow‑Ross presented his “Klangwerk” piece under a full moon at the Cisterna do Castelo. A free drawing workshop led by Luci Eyers was offered at the Casa da Cultura.

The festival’s diverse schedule highlighted both classical repertoire and contemporary works, attracting audiences from across Portugal and underscoring Marvão’s cultural significance as a venue for high‑profile musical events.
