AXA expands US specialty insurance and announces executive appointment

AXA is expanding its specialty insurance presence in the United States through the creation of AXA XL Excess & Surplus Lines Insurance Company. This new entity will focus on non-standardized industrial and commercial risks that fall outside traditional market offerings. The rollout is planned in two stages: liability coverage is expected to launch in early 2027, followed by property insurance later that year.

In conjunction with this expansion, AXA has announced a share buyback program intended to mitigate dilution from its 2026 share plan.

Additionally, AXA XL has appointed Thomas Götting as Chief Client & Distribution Officer for the APAC and Europe regions, effective October 1, 2026. Götting, who has nearly 30 years of commercial insurance experience, will oversee client and distribution strategies across Europe, Asia, and Australia.
