Axalta unveils Redefined as 2027 Global Automotive Color of the Year

Axalta Coating Systems has unveiled ‘Redefined’ as its 2027 Global Automotive Color of the Year. The announcement was made during a live event at Automechanika Frankfurt.

Redefined is described as a saturated, luminous ruby red designed to catch and reflect light with a subtle sparkle, providing a jewel-like appearance and unexpected depth. The color aims to meet consumer demand for vehicles that offer personal expression and sophistication while remaining timeless.

According to Matthew Boland, Vice President of Global Refinish Technology at Axalta, the color represents a contemporary evolution of the brand’s automotive color history, which began 13 years ago with ‘Radiant Red’. The new finish utilizes advancements in pigment and color science to create a more dimensional and sophisticated effect.
