Axel Enrique Anchondo Acosta linked to National Guard officer's homicide

A control judge has formally linked Axel Enrique Anchondo Acosta, known as ‘El Chacho’, to a criminal proceeding for the qualified homicide of Jesús Eduardo Rodríguez Carrillo, a member of the National Guard (Guardia Nacional).

The incident occurred on December 26, 2024. The judicial resolution follows investigations conducted by the Specialized Unit for Crimes Against Life and the State Investigation Agency (AEI). During the hearing, presided over by Judge Bertha Lucero Garfio, prosecutors presented evidence establishing the suspect's probable involvement in the killing.

Anchondo Acosta was apprehended in the municipality of Ojinaga during an operation in Loma de Juárez. The arrest, carried out by the State Public Security Secretariat (SSPE), also resulted in the seizure of an arsenal, vehicles, and cash. Authorities are also investigating the suspect's potential connection to other regional crimes, including an attack on a state security helicopter.
