Axel Kicillof accuses Clarín of spreading false information

Buenos Aires Governor Axel Kicillof has accused the news outlet Clarín of publishing malicious information regarding a money laundering investigation. The controversy stems from Clarín identifying Albertina Mangini, who was detained in connection with the case, as a “funcionaria de Kicillof” (Kicillof official).

The provincial government has responded by stating that Mangini is an employee of the provincial Judiciary and has no professional relationship with the Ministry of Justice within the Executive branch. Kicillof has demanded a rectification of the report.

The dispute is further complicated by the political context surrounding Sur Finanzas, a financial firm linked to the investigation. The case is being viewed through the lens of political alliances, specifically regarding Kicillof’s relationship with AFA president Claudio Tapia.
