Axera and Aptiv launch M57-based ADAS for Chinese EVs in Europe

Axera and Aptiv have announced the mass production of an integrated front-view Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) unit powered by Axera’s M57 System-on-Chip (SoC). The technology is being implemented in Chinese-made New Energy Vehicles (NEVs) intended for the European market.

Developed by Aptiv’s team in China, the system has achieved a five-star rating under the Euro NCAP 2026 protocols. The M57 SoC features an NPU with up to 10 TOPS of computing performance and supports BEV and Transformer architectures. The integrated unit, which combines the SoC with an MCU, reportedly reduces hardware size and power consumption by 20% compared to previous iterations.

The adoption of ADAS technology is increasing globally as safety standards evolve. Updated testing methods, such as the 2026 Euro NCAP protocols, place greater emphasis on a vehicle's ability to prevent accidents through driver assistance rather than just protecting passengers during a collision.
