Axia Energia posts R$1.19 bn profit, reversing loss in Q2 2026
Axia Energia reported a net profit of R$1.19 billion for the second quarter of 2026, overturning a R$1.33 billion loss from the same period a year earlier. The company’s EBITDA rose 301% year‑on‑year to R$5.55 billion and revenue reached R$11.19 billion, while its net debt stood at R$45.46 billion.
Nexa Resources posted a US$98 million net profit for Q2 2026, up from US$13 million a year earlier, driven by higher zinc prices and operational improvements in Peru. Wiz Co posted a net profit of R$53.6 million, an 8.4% increase, while reducing net debt by R$70.3 million.
Assaí recorded a net profit of R$484 million (post‑IFRS 16) and a recurring profit of R$344 million, a 93.6% year‑on‑year rise, on revenue of R$19.2 billion. The retailer’s leverage fell to 2.37 times, its lowest since 2021. Eztec’s net profit fell 21% to R$110.4 million, with revenue down 16% year‑on‑year.
Across the sector, earnings improvements were attributed to higher commodity prices, cost‑control measures and operational efficiencies, while consumer spending remained pressured by inflation and household debt.
