Axia Energia launches drone inspections at Brazilian substations

Axia Energia has launched its first remote drone inspections at the Jacarepaguá and Foz do Iguaçu substations in Brazil. The project utilizes Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) technology, featuring automated bases and drones capable of generating high-precision 3D models and thermal imaging.

With a planned investment of R$ 28 million, the company aims to expand this remote inspection method to 150 additional assets over the next four years. The technology is designed to reduce professional exposure to risks, prevent equipment failures, and facilitate faster maintenance decision-making by integrating drone data with Building Information Modeling (BIM) systems.
