Axpo completes first LNG bunkering operation in Valencia

Axpo has completed its first LNG bunkering operation at the Port of Valencia using the supply vessel ‘Alisios’. The ship-to-ship operation involved a fuel mix where more than half was bio-LNG, marking a milestone for alternative maritime fuel infrastructure in Spain.

The ‘Alisios’ has a capacity of 12,500 m³ and has been operating along the southern coast of the Iberian Peninsula since March 2026. Axpo has expanded its presence in Spanish ports significantly over the last 18 months, with previous operations conducted in Málaga, Algeciras, Barcelona, and Sines, Portugal.

In addition to its Spanish operations, Axpo has established a presence in Italy, having performed bio-LNG ship-to-ship supply operations in Genoa, Naples, and Civitavecchia.
